Meet Petey, the dog that was abandoned with his sibling in a park because he was different. While taking her kid home from school, a mom from Sacramento, California, noticed the dogs and hurried them to the vet. They were malnourished, sluggish, and as cold as ice. Petey’s brother died shortly after arriving at the facility, but Petey determined to fight for his life.
The vets quickly realized there was something amiss when the puppy couldn’t move correctly. Petey had cerebellar hypoplasia, a neurological disease in which the cerebellum is not fully formed.
“This can occur owing to hereditary factors or infections in the mother during development,” Sacramento SPCA veterinarian Dr. Laurie Siperstein-Cook told The Dodo. “There are indicators such as head bobbing, clumsiness, and falling.”
Petey, on the other hand, is a boisterous, curious, and goofy dog, according to Westphal-Thomson, the doggie’s foster mom. “He’s also incredibly self-assured and likes meeting new people…”
He learnt to feed on his own and enjoys running around and cuddling. The abandoned dog was quickly adopted by a loving couple who cherish him and would never forsake him since he is unique.
