Sadly, in our current society there are still people who are not able to understand what it means to have an animal. If it were otherwise, there would be no person who mistreats poor innocent beings and there would not be a large number of pets abandoned on the streets of the cities by people who no longer have a place for them.
It is a reality that leaves us devastated and it is that the number of abandoned animals is increasing every year and this is mainly due to the fact that the family that adopts or buys an animal does so impulsively without thinking too much about all the responsibility it has.
There are thousands of animals that are abandoned by their supposed families and that have to deal with how hard and complicated the street is. This is somewhat unfair to all of them.
Our protagonist today had the same luck as many other animals and that is, although his past is not completely known, it is known that he was abandoned by his former owner. It all happened when a person, in 2016, was walking through the streets of New York when he suddenly found this little dog wandering around. Worried, he decided to contact the Brookhaven organization so that they would try to find him a new family as soon as possible.
When he arrived at the shelter, all the workers of these facilities and the volunteers who helped, fell madly in love with him and knew that he would not be here long because he was a magnificent dog.
However, it seems that Nitro, our protagonist, has not had much luck and despite being a charming dog, he is still waiting after 981 days for a family to adopt him and give him the love and warmth of a real home. His life since 2016 has not been easy, he has been in the shelter for 5 years now and he does not understand why no one wants to adopt him or why he is still in this place. He doesn’t like being in a cage waiting for attention, he always tries to be with people and constantly seeks their attention.
Fortunately, he has shared those years with great people who work and volunteer at the shelter. Thanks to those people, this puppy has not fallen into great sadness.
The volunteers and workers play with Nitro whenever they can, walk him, give him a dose of pampering, all so that this little boy is not sad. Although it is clear that the love of the workers and volunteers is not even remotely the same as living next to a family where he can be the leading dog.
One of the volunteers, through an interview given to The Dodo, explained: » Nitro has a hard time living in the shelter. He gets very sad and starts to cry when he’s in his cage but whenever we take him out and spend time with him he smiles back at us ».
Nitro is always grateful to be taken out and he is quite the model as he is always willing to pose for pictures. Apparently he’s a favorite at the shelter and everyone there, including us, can’t wait for this little pitbull to find an adoptive family.
His smile is very special and peculiar. We are sure that the family that adopts this canine will see this beautiful smile that Nitro shows every day.
