Terri, with Foxy and the Hounds, took in a dog that lashed out at everyone he met. The pup, Arnold, was engulfed by fear and handled his emotions the only way he knew how. He protected himself from trauma by not allowing anyone near him. It was Terri’s mission to get Arnold to trust her.
Normally dogs she works with dramatically change within days. But Arnold was a special case. Terri believes most animal abusers hit their dogs with an open hand, so she approached Arnold with a closed fist. Arnold didn’t want Terri near him, but the patient woman persisted. Amazingly, Arnold didn’t bite her closed fist; he only put it in his mouth to warn her.
Next, it was time for Terri to open her hand, and again, Arnold merely warned her. He didn’t bite down. The dog shook and was obviously nervous, but Terri took the next step. She pet his chest gently so Arnold knew what a loving touch felt like. Arnold finally began to relax.
The pup’s story continues and can’t be missed. Just wait until you see Arnold transform into a little love bug! We are so grateful for people like Terri who refuse to give up on dogs like Arnold.
